Worth magazine in a 1996 study on what happiness meant to Americans found:

“… the more money people have, the more they believe they need… The less money people have, the more likely they are to think of others as they articulate their dreams… What does that tell us? … Perhaps success itself breeds greed. Or maybe the well off spend too much of their time associating with other people who are well off — and lose touch with the many folks they could conceivably help.”
