Speakers: Sam Park, Ben Shin, and Michael Lee
Dates: October 16-18, 2009
Location: L.A. Open Door (1925 Wilshire Blvd., Los Angeles, CA 90057)
Q: What is GodFest ’09?
Ben: Godfest ’09 is a conference where we hope to rally together English-Speaking 2nd Generation Asian-Americans in order to “Celebrate God and Build Up His Church.” This is the first time we’re having this.
Q: Tell us more about the theme.
Ben: Our theme is “Celebrating God by Building Up His Church.” The church is the clearest testimony of God in this world. We want to gather together to give witness to Him and also to encourage members of churches who may be struggling by having corporate worship, teaching, training, and fellowship with each other.
Q: Why is it important for churches to get together for events like this?
Ben: We need to gather especially because there are many small churches that lack resources. They also desperately need encouragement and spiritual renewal. When we put our resources and energy together, everyone can benefit. We hope to accomplish this through our time together.
Q: In what ways do you see the church flourishing among the 2nd Generation?
Ben: I think the 2nd Generation Church is flourishing with the growth of families and their children. We need to prepare for the next generation of “church” so that they will have a better time in the future.
Q: What do you hope will result from this gathering?
Ben: My hope is that people would be refreshed spiritually and challenged to be more committed to their own local churches.
